There are multiple solar parks and coal mines in the PA area that supply the power to our area.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

Consistently turn off appliances and lights, and all electronics.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Coffee cups are a big one for me. I could find a reusable mug or cup that I can carry along with me throughout my day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

Some reusable bottles are expensive and the water is not as high of quality as the bottled water. Another challenge is keeping water cold.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

Some human activities would include swimming, fishing, boating, and tubing. All of these could possibly rearrange ecosystems and have an effect on the wildlife under the surface.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

Lake Erie and Lake Ontario are the main sources for the northeast and they are part of the great lakes.

Using less water is a great way to make an impact on our planet. Mose so than just water, recycling plastics and limiting trash while living on campus is having a positive impact on the earth and our community.
