REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Susan Anderson-Benson 5/01/2020 4:43 PMGiven our need for social distancing, I am finding it to be very helpful to walk outdoors at the end of each work day. Given the amount of screen time we're currently having, it's a great way to disconnect from technology and refocus and re-energize for the next day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Susan Anderson-Benson 5/01/2020 4:40 PMThe practice of expressing gratitude on a daily basis during this challenge has proven not only beneficial to those I send notes, but also to me. Stopping to think about people to thank each day has helped me to stay focused on the positive during this trying time. It's a practice I intend to continue after the challenge is over. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Susan Anderson-Benson 4/20/2020 8:09 AMThe smartest way to not accumulate more things in the future is to organize what I have so I don't end up double-buying. I'm trying to spend at least 15 minutes a day decluttering or organizing, since I'm working at home right now and am stunned at the duplicates I've already found because things weren't as organized as they could be. It's a nice daily break and has the bonus effect of getting my house and life into better order. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Whole Food LifestyleMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?
Susan Anderson-Benson 4/20/2020 8:06 AMSuch a true statement! My doctors (MD and Chiro) are always talking about the importance of healthy eating for best health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsMany people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?
Susan Anderson-Benson 4/20/2020 8:04 AMI disagree based on my personal experience - it was easy to find organic foods to meet my dietary and taste-preference needs. I caveat that with the realization that not everyone can afford the higher cost of organic foods, so because of that, in fairness, the statement is partly true, until barriers to healthy food are eliminated for everyone.
