Cassandra Bean 11/14/2021 2:54 PMWell, this challenge is halfway over, and we have already made such a great impact already. I hope that you all have been enjoying this as much as I have. Keep up the great work everyone! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Cassandra Bean 11/14/2021 2:07 PMMy family and I live about five miles from Moraine View State Park in Illinois, so sometimes on weekends, given the weather, and walk, or jog around. During the summer, my mother and I would always go on walks in the park in the mornings before going and doing our running for the day. Sometimes, when going to see my sister, we would go hiking whenever we could. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Cassandra Bean 11/14/2021 12:36 PMOn average, I would say that I get about 6-8 hours of sleep, which I think is a decent amount of sleep. However I usually don't go to bed until 10, sometimes 11pm at the latest. I have to be up early for school, so going to bed earlier would probably be beneficial. Going to bed earlier would allow me to get the full rest that I need to tackle the following day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Cassandra Bean 11/14/2021 12:03 PMWriting down what I am thankful for continuously reminds me that I am a lot more fortunate than other people. It helps me put things into perspective, and that makes it easier to help those who are less fortunate than I am. It is something that I try to do as often as I can.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Cassandra Bean 11/14/2021 10:29 AMSomething that I think we use on a regular basis are plastic ziploc bags for any left over onion or pepper or tomato. Something that I have been starting to do is to take those and put them in reusable containers instead. Every once in a while, I will end up getting a single use coffee cup from the gas station. I am sure that I could bring my own cup if I ever ended up getting coffee at a gas station again. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Power Down the ComputerWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
Cassandra Bean 11/14/2021 10:19 AMFor starters, you should always turn off lights and water when you are not using them. Another way it to eat lower on the food chain, and do meal planning at the beginning of each week. If you happen to have food scraps, you can always compost that and use it for other things. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Cassandra Bean 11/08/2021 5:33 AMHonestly, I would say that I was addicted to sugar. During this period of time, I wasn't always in the best mood. Now that I have reduced a lot of my sugar intake, I feel like I have a lot more energy and I am in a better mood overall. Reducing the sugar intake has also made me feel more motivated in a lot of my daily activities!-
Janet Beach Davis 11/08/2021 10:03 AMWe all think sugar gives us an energy boost, but it can be just the opposite.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Joyful MovementWhat's your favorite activity(ies) in which you experience joy while being active and moving?
Cassandra Bean 11/08/2021 5:24 AMThis morning, I decided to go outside and work in my garden for a while before going to school. I worked on making sure all the plants were ready for the coming winter weather.-
Janet Beach Davis 11/08/2021 10:04 AMIt was a beautiful morning!
