Ecochallenge is going alright. I forgot to compost some of my food from dinner. :(
But I planned out a day with my family to go to a small farm!

Seeing other people that I follow online inspire me to want to get more sustainable energy for my home. I am especially interested in solar and water power.

My ecochallenges have been going really well! I hope to go to a small farm this week and maybe pick some veggies! (Like pumpkins or apples!)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

If I forget my bag I either just carry it all out with me or I use a cart and then put it all in my trunk.

    Waste Compost Food Waste
New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?

Whenever my family can't or doesn't want to finish something (Like veggies and fruits) we cut it up into small pieces and give it to our pet chickens and they eat it right up! Then whatever is left over we throw in the compost bin.
I think once the compost is ready I will add it to my spring garden as fertilizer!

Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

I liked preserving berries and veggies by canning/pickling them this fall.
