Remee's actions
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with durable non-plastic options.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 20 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 5 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Transportation
Learn More and Advocate
Access to public transportation is a social justice issue! I will learn about the need for public transportation in my community and tell 3 friends or classmates each day about the issue.
Health
Take Control
Both systemic and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 133 lbs of CO2 a month and 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 4 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Community
Connect with a Nonprofit
I will connect with a local nonprofit, environmental or otherwise, and find out how I can get involved or become a member.
Community
Help Others
I will offer to help 1 person(s) who are in need each day.
Community
Meet My Neighbors
I will meet 1 new neighbor(s) each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Remee Cacho 6/03/2019 11:09 AMPracticing gratitude helps one stay centered and motivated to work for a better world because it is dedicating time, effort, and thought towards what one already has in life, rather than focusing on situations they do not have. I believe it also becomes a source of happiness because it helps one gain appreciation for their life. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Remee Cacho 5/16/2019 10:06 AMKnowing the difference I am making by switching to a reusable coffee mug is a great feeling. I think the obstacle I faced in choosing to do this was ultimately the convenience of being able to simply throw away a non-reusable mug. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Switch to Cold WaterWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Remee Cacho 5/16/2019 10:02 AMI plan to use my money savings towards purchasing a nice reusable thermos!
