  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

After disconnecting from social media, I feel more connected to the real world. I pay more attention to what is happening around me. I feel more patient and not in a hurry to eat, shower, or do other things.

It's so tough, hey? It's hard to imagine what the world would be like without social media right now!

    Health More Fruits and Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

    Camille Clores's avatar

Eating more vegetables and less meat affects my physical and mental health. Whenever I eat better, I also feel better. Not only eating vegetables are nutritious to your body, but it also means you are not supporting animal cruelty. The best part is it is cheaper to buy more vegetables than meat so you save more money.

What is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?

I should support local businesses. I should buy more from local stores such as vegetables and fruits rather than big grocery stores. I am more likely supporting local neighbour families.

That's a great idea. Right now since restaurants are shut down for covid, it might be a good idea to order takeout from your local restaurant - pick it up to avoid the delivery apps!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Track my Purchases
What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

Last year, I decided to lessen my purchases on clothes for a wardrobe capsule which I was able to do. But this past month, I have been buying more clothes than I intended. I guess it is a withdrawal. The good thing tho is I have become pickier about what I buy. I don't buy fast fashion clothes anymore. I buy clothes that are maybe more expensive but are of good quality. They are classic pieces such as a plain t-shirt and jeans. I also buy clothes in more neutral colours so they are easier to match and good for my Instagram, too.

That's awesome! I can work in my PJs every day now so I also haven't bought any clothes since before covid 😂

Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Camille Clores's avatar
    Camille Clores 3/08/2021 5:50 PM
I enjoy walking most of the time.  Since I walk alot in the neighbourhood, I become more familiar with people's faces. Not only I see the same people who exercise, but I also see their pets and/or their kids. It feels more like a community.

What a great benefit! Feeling connected to community is so important.

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

My friend and I enjoy doing exercise challenges together online and posting updates for support on our social media accounts.

This is so smart! Do you have any exercise resources to share for your fellow students? There are so many fitness Instagrams/Youtubes it can be hard to figure out what to do!
