Francisco's actions
Simplicity
Core Values
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.
Simplicity
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Simplicity
Go For A Daily Walk Outside
I will take a walk outside for 25 minutes each day.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 6 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Simplicity
Mindfulness Practice
I will spend 5 minute(s) per day practicing Mindfulness.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 5 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home or Dorm Room
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home or dorm room.
Simplicity
Track my Purchases
I will spend 5 minutes each day maintaining a record of all my purchases and learning about my spending habits.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 10 minute(s) each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Francisco Cornejo-Garcia 3/19/2021 12:53 PMTo avoid accumulating more unnecessary things in the future, I intend to only buy what I need, or buy products that are long-lasting to reduce multiple purchases. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Francisco Cornejo-Garcia 3/15/2021 11:23 PMOf the few single-use items I regularly use, it would have to be vegetable bags that are very thin and usually provided in grocery stores. I might go for a thin cloth bag that can hold vegetables well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Francisco Cornejo-Garcia 3/14/2021 11:07 PMThe main water source in my region is groundwater and comes from a nearby aquifer. I didn't know beforehand, and just took a local search on a search engine to find out.
