  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Online Energy Audit
What most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint? What changes did you make or will you make?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:25 PM
I was surprised by how much energy it took to power my house. I have since started to make sure lights are turned off and on nicer days will turn the thermostat off and open windows/doors.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:22 PM
Some people will throw trash into lakes and rivers, or will fish out of them maybe too much which can harm the environment of the bodies of water. Also humans dump waste into the ocean which causes water pollution and is not good for the environment. Therefore, we should be more cautious when it comes to recycling.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:20 PM
Being grateful for what you have puts into perspective what it takes to keep what you have. So if you are grateful for your physical appearance, you take into consideration what you eat, and chose to eat healthier foods.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Practice Loving-Kindness Meditation
How can practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation be helpful to the health of the environment?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:19 PM
Practicing that meditation will relax you and allows you to think clearer, which may keep you from making harmful decisions to the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:17 PM
I play volleyball with my friends to exercise.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:16 PM
Potatoes are a great example because you can cook the whole vegetable and eat it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:15 PM
Richer countries eat more meat because they can afford healthier meat. Eating more meat decreases the population of animals which can be harmful for our planet if populations get too low.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Heat and Cool Naturally
What are other ways you could use the power of the sun to reduce your own environmental footprint?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:14 PM
You could install solar panels to power your house.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:13 PM
Turn off lights when not needed, and also open windows and doors instead of using the air conditioning on nice days.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

    Kolby Eberwein (Cho)'s avatar
Kolby Eberwein (Cho) 3/18/2022 10:12 PM
I believe that electricity in my area is generated by met ed generators. this impacts everything because people crash into them, animals can chew wires and die, and it puts electrical lines into the ground.
