Hank's actions
Water
Water a plant whenever you can
If I end up having water, I don't plan on drinking I promise to not let that water go to waste by using the water to water a plant I see outside that looks like it needs it. By doing this I am not letting that water going to waste and it will help the beautiful plant grow and eventually over time become a grownup plant and begin to produce oxygen for the world and help the bees pollinate other plants.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 133 lbs of CO2 a month and 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Waste
Limit the amount of paper you use each day,
I will start to think more carefully about how much paper I waist during an average day where I am going to the bathroom, washing my hands, blowing my nose, taking notes in class, printing out paper or when I grab napkins when I eat any meal during the day. I choose this because if we try to use less paper there will be no need to buy more paper which means there will be no need to chop down trees to make more paper and waist it again.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 60 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 15-minute walk outside each day.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with durable non-plastic options.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
