REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Nick Fioravante 11/18/2021 8:57 AMPracticing gratitude just helps us to appreciate everything that we currently have and respect the world we live in a little more. -
Nick Fioravante 11/18/2021 8:56 AMEco challenge is winding down now and I have missed a few check-ins recently, but I look to finish the last few days strong. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Nick Fioravante 11/18/2021 8:54 AMWhen practicing mindfulness when I eat I feel more comfortable and at ease. We to often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and I think taking a little time here and there to eat in peace can help us out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Nick Fioravante 11/15/2021 12:36 PMYes, this stat is very surprising to me. I would much rather see this money used to help support those in poverty who could really use food and nourishment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Nick Fioravante 11/15/2021 12:34 PMHuman activities impacting the health of our water systems include littering, transportation pollution (car/boat/etc.), plastic pollution. These are three large areas impacting our water. I can volunteer to remove waste from local creeks and rivers to help improve the overall conditions of the waterway. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?
Nick Fioravante 11/15/2021 12:23 PMI feel like social media is a great developing new tool, but to much of it can lead to some negative effects in our lives. There needs to be a balance and I feel these few days help me achieve that balance. -
Nick Fioravante 11/02/2021 8:12 AMMy ecochallenge has been going very well, although I am not necessarily checking in daily, I still carry out almost all my actions daily. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Nick Fioravante 10/28/2021 8:13 AMYes I do agree with this statement. When we really appreciate the planet I think we feel more obligated to preserve it personally. I think we can have a sense of gratitude by taking more responsibility when it comes to the sustainability of the planet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Nick Fioravante 10/17/2021 4:28 PMI noticed that it makes me feel a little better not looking at a screen 24/7. I didn't find it hard to choose other activities over a screen, so I go golfing and to the gym to spend my time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Nick Fioravante 10/11/2021 12:52 PMGetting just a little bit more sleep I find helps me feel more refreshed and energized the next day. I would like to start going to sleep earlier and try to wake up at the first alarm every morning.
