An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

April Ann Fong 10/24/2021 9:38 AMWow...that's some rain today! I'm so glad that neighbors are also picking up garbage. It is making such a difference. Raking up leaves today was so much easier without garbage and cigarette butts in it. Went to dinner out for the first time in a month last night at a Hawaiian owned place (Bamboo Grove Hawaiian Grille)...meaty, but on the BIPOC restaurant directory. -

April Ann Fong 10/22/2021 4:17 PMI adopted one block (https://www.adoptoneblock.org/) and have been caring for my block for over a month now. During that time, neighbors have stopped and thanked me. I always tell them about the program (free grabber, bucket, gloves, and sharps sent to your home) and apparently, 7-8 other blocks adjacent to mine have been adopted now! Sometimes your work does make a difference that you get to see--I find it so fulfilling that so many blocks have been adopted around me. Before I started, no blocks were adopted! -
