REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:30 PMI can focus on the people around me and enjoy the food in a more wholesome manner, rather than feeling the bombardment of the outside world on a peaceful and mindful time of reflection.-
Lindsey Lyons 10/01/2018 6:11 PMGreat job Sadie! You are creeping up the points with some awesome commitments. Keep it up!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:30 PMI was not addicted to sugar, simply because of the way I was raised. I definitely enjoyed sugar, but it was not a constant in our household. I have participated in "no-sugar" challenges before, which, the few adjustments I made definitely impacted my future decisions. As it is the fall season, there are many temptations, but I will do my best to uphold this. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:24 PMSimplicity requires new ways of thinking and stretching what we already know or don't know. Creativity provides individuals a way to express themselves different than how society may dictate them to do so, often in a less structured and more simplistic manner. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:23 PMI would like to reflect on my behaviors and what drives me to do the things I do, and focus on why sometimes I feel so unmotivated or excessively exhausted at times. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:22 PMI appreciate the history of the area a lot more. The neighborhood I am in has played significant parts in history, particularly in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Recognizing that other parts of humanity has touched where I walk humbles me and awes me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:22 PMIn a way, yes, I agree with Moore's statement. However, morality should not be solely based on one's emotions, simply because, what happens if someone no longer feels that way about the particular topic? While people do not wake up suddenly thinking "I'm not going to be moral today," their attitudes may change towards different topics and result in different beliefs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:20 PMGratitude helps a person stay more positive and reduce a stress-attitude and blaming others, rather than taking responsibility for one's own actions. Gratitude also helps keep someone in the moment, leading them to not stress about what they cannot control. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:18 PMI think sticking to a regular habit and defined bedtime and wake-up time is more useful. And if I find that I got less sleep than I normally would prefer, if my schedule allows, take a nap to help refresh the body. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Sadie Fowler 10/01/2018 3:15 PMMany cultures also are a meat-focused food culture, but I think America relies more on the heavily processed and industrialized system of meats. Adopting a cage-free/free-roaming policy and helping to reduce the nitrates in processed meats and making it as humane for the animals is a way to help combat the ideals of capitalism in the food economy.
