REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Help OthersIn your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?
Tassia Garrison 3/14/2022 10:18 AMSocial inequalities allow a barrier to be created between people and in turn lessen the overall sense of community by almost promoting the idea of them vs. us. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Tassia Garrison 3/11/2022 5:58 PMCreativity is necessary as it can make it easy to practice simplicity by making more possibilities, uses, and ideas available. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Tassia Garrison 3/11/2022 5:52 PMMost of the time the only true barrier is having access to drinkable water when I am out, and my water bottle is empty. I could help make this a more permanent habit by being aware of how filled my water bottle is and keeping it filled. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Brush My Teeth Without Running WaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Tassia Garrison 3/11/2022 5:44 PMI do not know but I could most likely look it up on the new york state website -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Tassia Garrison 3/11/2022 5:43 PMThinking about if the item will be used regularly for a single use or if it can be used in multiple ways. Also, when in store before I checkout I try to think of every item in the cart and if I forget that I put it in my cart I do not buy it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Buy Used ClothesDo people with economic privilege have a responsibility to consume and own less? How can the concept of "reduce" be presented to those who may be struggling to have enough food, clothes, shelter?
Tassia Garrison 3/11/2022 5:38 PMPeople with economic privilege have a responsibility to be aware of their consumption and actively work to not overconsume and help reduce waste. To those who have been struggling, it is possible to present to idea of reducing as a way to understand what is actively used and what they might be keeping providing an idea of security but is not actually used or needed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Tassia Garrison 3/11/2022 5:30 PMI think people in richer countries eat more meat because they have the money it takes to care and raise the animals as well as an easier access to them. Eating more meat increases carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with the needed animals and it decreases the amount of clean water available.
