  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

I've noticed that I have more time to myself, in a intellectual way. Every urge that I had to get on social media was extreme but I flip the situation and would paint, write or read instead of scrolling the gram. It was nice to give myself this extra time and it made me wish that social media and phones were never invented. They drain the human brain too much.

Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

We are 100% connected to this earth, in more ways than you can imagine. I agree with Berry, life should be a celebration.

Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

I do believe that gratitude leads to a better sense of moral obligation, when you appreciate something you are more likely to care for it. I also believe that gratitude isn't something that your just born with, you live and you learn and experiencing tough time reminds about all the things you should be thankful for.
