The EcoChallenge is now almost over but I had a fun time doing it. I found a few things challenging tho.  First off I found it difficult to change plans that I had made days in advance when something pops up and the plan for super or lunch wouldn't work any more. wile not that bad I did find it off putting from after putting so much care into the plan and then having to drop if for what ever comes up unannounced. secondly I learned my family eats from a very small selection of recipes so to try and negate our bad habits I found a few bean recipes to try throughout the week witch has been going very well so far.

Its going well so far, I think. I've made a full meal plan for every meal this week and have already got the groceries that will be needed. I found it a bit more difficult because I have to plan for my whole family, and the only meal that we all really share is super. So I had to make sure everyone else had what they needed for lunch and breakfast.

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

this does not surprise me as I have already heard about the copious amounts of food waste Americans  create. personally my family does there best not to waste any food scraps. the only food scraps we throw out are animal fat and bones as we cant put them in the composer (other wise this will attract raccoon) or give them to our chickens. if I had this much extra money in my pocket I would probably put it in the bank or invest it to help me in the future with things like buying a house and tuition for college. if neither of those i'd probably donate it for preserving natural land. But to make this a bit more fun lets say i'm going to splurge for myself. if I was going to waste it all i'd probably spend it all on video games and books. :)
