Abby 's actions
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 60-minute walk outside each day.
Community
Join my Student Government or Local Group
I will join my neighborhood association, student government, or another local group of decision makers.
Nature
Practice Gratitude for Earth
I will spend 90 minute(s) per day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and my natural surroundings.
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home or Dorm Room
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home or dorm room.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 30 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 60 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.

Abby Gureski 5/03/2020 1:22 PMI learned a new frappe recipe! Now I can use it in my reusable cups, and avoid buying it and getting it in a plastic to go cup. -
Abby Gureski 5/03/2020 1:18 PMI walked about 4 miles today, and the weather was beautiful! I practiced healthy habits, and connected with my brother when we were walking. All in all, a great day! -
Abby Gureski 4/29/2020 11:56 AMI wonder what the environmental impact will be on the increase of toilet paper supplies. After the dust settles, will there be a negative impact? -
Abby Gureski 4/29/2020 11:54 AMToday was good! I sent a positive note to a friend, and I used my reusable cup this morning for my coffee awhile researching ways to be more green! -
Abby Gureski 4/28/2020 2:03 PMEverything’s going well! It’s raining here, so I had to walk a little earlier to avoid getting soaked 🌧🌧 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Abby Gureski 4/28/2020 2:01 PMIt helps me to stay centered, and in check during this time. Everyone is struggling, it’s better to understand what you do have instead of focusing on what you don’t. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Abby Gureski 4/28/2020 2:00 PMI love to go on long walks and call on my friends to check in on them! It incorporates quality time with friends, time in nature, and exercise! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Abby Gureski 4/28/2020 1:59 PMI usually get about 5 hours of sleep. Lately, I’ve been doing better and getting 7. During this time, it’s hard to sleep or over sleep. I am working towards keeping a consistent schedule. I’m trying to keep my phone across the room and read before bed to sleep better and longer. I am also drinking more water that aids me in relaxing and sleeping better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Abby Gureski 4/23/2020 9:06 AMIt’s intriguing how I was reflecting on this on my walk. It really grounds you on how big your world is, and how small you are. Many times I get wrapped up with multiple events (school, work, relationships, etc) it feels like the only things in the world. When really, they’re just pieces of a bigger scale, your life, in its entirety. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Abby Gureski 4/23/2020 9:02 AMI’ve started to do this in the present. By thinking about whether it’s a need or an impulse. And reflecting the lessons Marie kondo has shared.
