Nature
Tend a Garden
I will tend to a garden, or prepare for one, each day using sustainable gardening practices.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with durable non-plastic options.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Health
Joyful Movement
I will spend 30 minutes doing an activity where I'm both moving my body and enjoying myself.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 120 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Mitchel Hays 4/01/2021 2:29 PMThis does ring a few bells, one of which is the beauty of untouched nature found in the mountains or preserved parks. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Mitchel Hays 4/01/2021 2:28 PMI regularly use straws, plastic bags from grocery stores, and sometimes coffee cups. These could all easily be replaced. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Joyful MovementWhat's your favorite activity(ies) in which you experience joy while being active and moving?
Mitchel Hays 4/01/2021 2:27 PMHiking, Golf, and usually love to play outdoor games such as giant Jenga -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Mitchel Hays 3/29/2021 5:39 PMFor myself, it seems to help settle my stomach and appetite. As for other people, I believe this may encourage themselves to eat a more balanced diet. For the planet, it helps use a better balance of foods instead of a larger portion of one group.-
Janet Beach Davis 4/01/2021 9:46 AMI know what you mean! hungry? Eat an apple.... sets be up for several hours.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Tend a GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Mitchel Hays 3/29/2021 5:37 PMOne major experience outside in nature was a few years ago when I found wild foxes tending to their kin while I was on a hike.-
Thomas Brady 4/01/2021 2:44 PMSomething that altered my perspective about nature is when I saw a bald eagle in the wild. When I was growing up, I was always told they were near extinction, so that was something that was really neat to see. -
