I watched the stunning sunset last night. I also made my mom smile as I write her notes on the daily to remind her to be happy. I also have been good about turning off my water when I am not using it.

I’ll bet your mom looks forward to your notes every day. What a wonderful thing to do!

My challenge is going well. I am pretty good about turning off my water when I am done brushing my teeth. I am also good about being happy on the daily as it is important everyday to be grateful for what you have in life. I am also good about watching the sunrise/sunset as I enjoy watching and taking pics of it because it is so exquisite to look at. I am also good about going on daily walks. As I love to hike and walk everyday because it is super healthy for you.

My ecochallenge is going well. I am getting better at turning off water while brushing my teeth and turning off lights while not using the rooms. The challenge of being happy never breaks me as I am always smiling and encouraging people to smile also. Watching the sunrise and sunset is going well as it was on my bucket list to do. I was wanting to see if I could do it for my challenge.

It seems a lot easier to catch the sunrise now that it's getting later in the day. It was really nice this morning.

The campus Eco challenge is going okay. Some I am better at than others. I am more better at turning off the lights around the house, turning the water off when brushing teeth, and watching the sun rise and sun set. The other two I need to work on as I am not used to doing them on a daily basis but I will get better as I get through my challenge.

You don’t have to do everything all at once. It’s ok to work toward improvement .

This is going well as I have been doing this task before my challenge. It is one thing that my parents would have to pay for because it takes a lot of water to live. As much as I like water I like to save it for other uses.

I wanted to start recycling waste as it is good for the earth. I feel like this was a great topic to pick as I want to see how I do. I think it is going well but I feel like it it is very hard to know because I am not used to doing this even before I started the challenge.

How are you doing with your recycling? Sometimes just knowing what can and can't be recycled is confusing.

Water Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

    Emily Hendren's avatar
    Emily Hendren 11/07/2020 7:35 PM
The main water source in my region is a water well. I say this because I was raised out in the country and I grew up on water that comes from a well. If you don't know how you could find out by looking it up on the internet. You could also call the city water place and I am sure they would be happy to tell you what kind of water region you are in .
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

    Emily Hendren 11/07/2020 7:31 PM
My response to Berry's assertion would be we should always celebrate different times of the year. I also think that he is challenging us to get up in the morning and watch a sunrise and a sunset at least once because it is god creation as I would say. I love sunrises and sunsets because it reminds me that god made that creation and that I am proud to be living on the planet earth.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Personal Waste Audit
Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

    Emily Hendren's avatar
    Emily Hendren 11/04/2020 7:59 PM
It is difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places because some people don't care about our world and they don't want to help it. People like me want to be better at saving the world because we live on this planet and why not take care of the things that are surviving on this planet.
I would say it would have a huge impact as I want to learn how to do more world saving because it is a great cause. I love plants and animals so I want to learn more on this task.
