  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Food Lifestyle
Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?

It is better to get fresh foods, to keep us healthy so we do not have medical problems to have to see the doctors.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Hannah Hodge 3/25/2021 8:13 AM
This does not surprise me. I would like to see this money put into efforts to prevent climate change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

On social media, you can post yourself and show your personality and it does not require any type of purchase.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Hannah Hodge's avatar
    Hannah Hodge 3/01/2021 8:53 AM
If I can not use a reusable bag I will just carry the items in my hands, or if there is a lot I will reload the cart and then put the items in the reusable bags once I am at my car. I always keep my usable bags in my car so I never can forget them. I will unload my items and then immediately bring the bags back to the car.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Hannah Hodge 3/01/2021 8:51 AM
I prefer email bills, receipts, and everything else. It is harder to lose when everything is on your phone and saved in many areas.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

Encourage others with the benefits of two-sided printing. Environmentally friendly, is more cost-efficient on buying paper, and there is less paper in the stack.
