I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.

Transportation
Advocate for Greener Vehicles
I will spend at least 15 minutes assessing the vehicles used by my company or college and advocate for a purchasing policy focused on fuel-efficient vehicles.
Health
Practice Loving-Kindness Meditation
I will spend 15 minutes practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation to nurture love and compassion for myself and others.
Health

Health
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
I will spend 15 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
Racial inequity is both a sustainability and justice problem. I will support businesses owned by people of color in my community whenever I shop.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Help Others
I will offer to help 1 person(s) who are in need each day.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 15 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard or local community garden.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will learn about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 15 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 0.11lbs (0.05kg) a day or 3.3lbs (1.6kg) a month by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Help OthersIn your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?
Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:20 AMWhen you leave people out of things your community gets smaller and smaller. small community can work but larger community thrive and are stronger for being inclusive of all -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:16 AMlearn how to edit the close you already own, by sowing, and accessorizing ( with things you already have) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:13 AMbuy/use things multiple times. change out one-time use products for reusable products. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:11 AMBecause we don't always see that impact first hand so we don't think about it. Look and use products that have more eco-friendly packaging. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Emily Imig 3/29/2021 6:36 PMa barrier for me is forgetfulness. I now have a reusable water bottle on my check list for every time I leave my house -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Emily Imig 3/29/2021 6:33 PMI try to carry the thing I got without a bag and if I can't I use a plastic bag but I collect them and reuse them as garbage bags or to carry things another time. I have donated them to be crochet into homeless sleeping mats. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Core ValuesWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Emily Imig 3/29/2021 6:30 PMpeace, connections, kindness, happiness, health. I thought of the things I hold dear to me and decided to focus on those. the health one is something I care about but it's something I struggle with more so than the others so I put it on there so I would focus on it more and hopefully put more effort into my well-being.
