  • REFLECTION QUESTION

In your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:20 AM
When you leave people out of things your community gets smaller and smaller. small community can work but larger community thrive and are stronger for being inclusive of all
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:16 AM
learn how to edit the close you already own, by sowing, and accessorizing ( with things you already have)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:13 AM
buy/use things multiple times. change out one-time use products for reusable products.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Personal Waste Audit
Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/31/2021 7:11 AM
Because we don't always see that impact first hand so we don't think about it. Look and use products that have more eco-friendly packaging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/29/2021 6:36 PM
a barrier for me is forgetfulness. I now have a reusable water bottle on my check list for every time I leave my house
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/29/2021 6:33 PM
I try to carry the thing I got without a bag and if I can't I use a plastic bag but I collect them and reuse them as garbage bags or to carry things another time. I have donated them to be crochet into homeless sleeping mats.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Core Values
What are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?

    Emily Imig's avatar
    Emily Imig 3/29/2021 6:30 PM
peace, connections, kindness, happiness, health. I thought of the things I hold dear to me and decided to focus on those. the health one is something I care about but it's something I struggle with more so than the others so I put it on there so I would focus on it more and hopefully put more effort into my well-being.
