REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Insulate Water Pipes and Water HeaterHow do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/22/2022 11:13 PMI think the biggest affect climate change would have on us is sea level rise, due to the fact that we live on an island lol. The amount of land on the island would decrease, and many would lose their homes. Also, with the warming of the climate the oceans would warm up to causing coral reefs to be destroyed. With that ocean animals lose their homes, and die off. Less fish in the sea, less food for us humans. It's all a big cycle where when one thing is affected, everything ends up being affected. :P -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Switch to Cold WaterWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/22/2022 11:08 PMI would simply just add it to my savings for something big, or put it towards school in helping my mom pay for my tuition :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/19/2022 5:16 PMPollinators are super essential to our life and survival. Not only to that, but to the environment, and other wildlife. Pollinators are the reason why we are able to have a healthy ecosystem, and foods that grow because of their pollinations. They also help with seed production and dispersion. Without them we wouldn't have things like honey, flowers, specific fruits/vegetables, and more. :) -
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/19/2022 5:06 PMWe're doing a pretty decent job seeing that we did't start off strong. I did lose my streak of checking in daily, but I swear from today till the last day I will actually keep the streak :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Join An Outdoor ProjectHow well do you know the area you stay in -- whether your hometown or your campus community? In what ways is a deep knowledge of your surroundings -- known as a 'sense of place' -- important to you?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/13/2022 3:40 AMI moved to where I am now when I was eight months old, and lived here in the same house ever since. Eighteen years, I would say that I know my hometown very well. Seeing how well I can describe differences in this town from then and now shows a sense of deep knowledge of my surroundings. The memories are what are important to me. Though it is sad how this town isn't the same as it use to be. There's less greenery and more danger. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity LEARN ABOUT TRANS, FEMME, AND NONBINARY EXPERIENCESHow is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/13/2022 3:17 AMIn order for something to succeed, those who are willing to help are needed. It is also stronger when everyone who is willing to contribute is comfortable with each other. Having a community where everyone is welcoming in one another and is willing to work together helps form a just and sustainable society. -
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/12/2022 3:48 PMi lost my streak again, because i went to sleep 🥰 however, for the remaining 10 days of this ecochallenge, I for sure will check in everyday. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/05/2022 3:47 PMHaving creativity allows you to do things in a more enjoyable and unique way. When you use creativity, you think outside of the box. You can turn something small into something big with just a little bit more thinking and imagination :) ✨🧚♂️ -
Kathrina Mae Laureto 4/04/2022 11:05 PMEcochallenge is going good :) I wish i could do more things beyond basic, id say, stuff like saving electricity or taking a walk, but i get pretty busy with balancing school work and life things. Nonetheless, I will try to do more things related to sustainability. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Learn About Renewable EnergyWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Kathrina Mae Laureto 3/30/2022 11:06 PMIt really just is the idea of doing my part in living eco-friendly, reducing the waste I produce, reducing my carbon footprint, etc. The little things and efforts add up. It is also in hopes for a suitable future for the next generations, because I know my kids and their kids and so on will be living through that, hopefully :)
