REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Nate Linder 3/14/2022 7:56 AMFor me, the best area to plant a garden is in a plot of land in my backyard. My backyard receives lots of sunlight during the year and is fenced off to protect the garden. This makes it a good spot for growing a variety of fruits and vegetables. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Nate Linder 3/14/2022 7:46 AMGenerally, people in richer companies eat more meat because wealthier governments subsidize different meat industries in order to keep the prices of meat products lower. In fact, meat and dairy industries in the U.S. receive $38 billion in subsidies annually from the government (https://ffacoalition.org/articles/factory-farming-subsidies/) This means that for most families, eating meat is often cheaper than eating vegetarian foods. Unfortunately, large amounts of meat consumption also can have a negative impact on the environment, because of the large amounts of energy and water that are needed to raise animals on farms so they can be eaten.
