In the Eastern Valley of Arizona, water quality affects human health. In Gilbert specifically, there are DBP's which are disinfection byproducts. These are not well regulated by the FDA, and are said to increase risks of bladder cancer, as well as, kidney, liver, and central nervous system problems. In Phoenix particularly, in the fall a bad taste and weird smell plagues their water. It is said that this is because of algae that grows in the pipes during the hot summer months.
