REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Carlos Luna 5/19/2021 5:56 PMI'm not sure. Maybe the Pacific Ocean, Tijuana River, or Otay Lake. I could just google the question and get a reasonably accurate answer. For something more certain I could just check the county website for Chula Vista. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Carlos Luna 5/19/2021 5:52 PMI don't find it all that beneficial. Cultures that have normalized indoor living might be more communal because of their close proximity, or more isolated due to their potentially limited time outside of their homes. It really depends on a whole slew of factors. You can look at massive metropolitan areas with brutal work cultures like New Delhi and Tokyo and see entirely different cultural outcomes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Carlos Luna 5/19/2021 5:45 PMI think for southern California specifically we would need to rethink the type of agriculture done in the region and ask if the revenue lost from water intensive crops is worth the gains in sustainability.-
Professor Morrell 5/20/2021 10:17 AMIs it really losing crops or just finding new efficient ways of farming? We will discuss this more. No one is recommending wiping out the agricultural industry.
