REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Anthony Martinez 3/23/2021 8:07 PMIt is advised that men ages 18 and older should not eat Shiner Perch or Topsmelt. I don't eat either, so it doesn't really affect me too much. I make sure that I eat only once a week to make sure I fall within the guidelines. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteIn what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?
Anthony Martinez 3/23/2021 7:59 PMUsually landfills are located in the poorest communities, where people are uneducated about the harmful gases released from these landfills. -
Anthony Martinez 3/22/2021 8:13 PMOur ecochallenge is going amazing, I think this challenge helps us be more of aware of our carbon footprint. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Anthony Martinez 2/25/2021 4:51 PMWe address it by looking at the products we buy to make sure we are getting the food that protects our natural resources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergySwitching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Anthony Martinez 2/25/2021 4:37 PMI usually try and carry things out by hand or just put it in my school backpack. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Anthony Martinez 2/01/2021 6:18 PMOne food choice that could make more good and less harm is to go vegan. Eating less meat could help the envrionment and the greenhouse affect caused by eating more meat. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Anthony Martinez 2/01/2021 6:14 PMPeople with more money can afford to eat meats like steaks and expensive fish. Eating more meat can generate more greenhouse gas emissions. -
