REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Christie McDermott 4/25/2019 4:32 PMI live in a town that used to be small, and over the years it has been growing and the population has been increasing. Transportation is a major factor because after driving twenty minutes out of the city, the only land there is, is farmland. This means that people have to drive a lot to reach the shops and schools. My city has really influenced the community and surrounding communities to take the bus more often because of the growing population and for the demand on cars in the area. I remember as a kid, my schools would have yearly presentations or discussions on how we should take the bus to school instead of having our parents drive us, because it was better for the environment. Now that I am in college, I still try to take the bus, carpool, or walk to places. I do believe that my experience of riding the bus to school every day as a kid has taught me that taking the bus or walking is not really that bad. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Christie McDermott 4/23/2019 2:37 PMOne setback is that sometimes I will be running late for class and I will forget to bring my water bottle. I usually just drink out of the drinking fountain, they are not hard to find. In order to make this a permanent change for me, I need to buy a really good water bottle that I know will not get damaged easily and one that I can carry everywhere with me. I wish we had retractable water bottles or something (like those rubber bowls that retract), it would be really nice so I can just stick my water bottle in a bag or my pocket.
