How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

SDG&E generates 54% of the energy by shipping natural gas from Texas and New Mexico. Solar accounts for 18%, wind makes up 15%, and 11% comes from unspecified sources. I know that SDG&E are looking to become more green and to no longer build natural gas power plants. All of the plants and power lines have been in place for many years. If San Diego is able to use offshore wind farms to generate power there are possible impacts on sea birds and whales in the area of the wind farm and the cables that connect to land.
