Watch the film Creatures of Convenience on CBC Gem

Check out the film Creatures of Convenience on CBC Gem for FREE! This is a local film about the the impact our culture of convenience has on the environment. If you liked the film, consider attending our Earth Day event on Thursday, April 22: "In Conversation: Creatures of Convenience," a Q&A session with the film's producer and filmmaker, moderated by KPU instructor Dr. Paul Richard! To complete this action, you only have to watch the film - but we'd love to see you at the event as well! :)

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that one of our participants, Theresa, has had a problem signing in to her account via Google since yesterday evening.

I want this competition to be as fair as possible, and having one of our participants missing out on engaging due to an account error isn't fair.

I've let Theresa know that she can make a new account and her points from the two accounts will be added together to determine her final score. However, to ensure fairness, she will not do any of the following:
-Complete any one-time actions on the new account that she has already completed on the old account
-Answer any reflection questions on the new account that she has already answered on the old account
-Donate any more than $85 since she's already donated $15*

If anyone else is signing in via Google and has the same problem, please email [email protected].

Thank you everyone for your patience and for being so engaged!

*Please don't feel that you need to donate to get points!!! The KSA is making a donation to Ecochallenge.org for the use of the platform - we don't want you to feel like you need to spend money!

Following up on this - I'm going to personally make sure that all is done fairly and that no one is able to complete more than the 15 one-time action limit or 10 daily action limit, and that no duplicate points are awarded. Thank you all for your patience with the new platform!

Hi folks, there has been some confusion as to how the prize winners are selected each week.

The weekly prizes are given out in a raffle. This means that anyone who engaged during the week has their name entered into a random draw. Only students who engage are entered. So far there's been approximately a 1-in-6 chance of winning something!

The grand prize will be awarded to the highest point earner at the end of the challenge on March 31st

I hope that clears up any confusion!

Hey everyone, I hope your Ecochallenge is going well! Thanks for all your engagement, it's great to see. I wanted to let you know that we'll do the prize draws for each week on the following Monday. That means that you can engage up until Sunday, March 7th to be entered into the first draw. Please tell your friends!

    Hey everyone!

We had a question about whether or not you can start your actions before March.

You are totally welcome to do any actions right now, but unfortunately points you gain during February won't count for prizes. I also don't believe the Ecochallenge platform will let you track any completed actions before March 1.

You can select actions that you want to complete in March and get them ready on your dashboard.

We've also made a change to our prizes:

In Week 3 the second prize will be changed to Food Storage Bags from the Vancouver Aquarium; and we've added a prize for Week 5 (Mar 29-31) - another set of Beeswax Wraps from Alisa Yao

    Thanks!
