Silvia's actions
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Waste
Collecting water from showers that are wasted to have hot water from solar panels
At home we have a solar heating system for showering. From the moment we turn on the shower until we start having hot water we have a waste of cold water which I am collecting in buckets to be used to wash the yard, water the garden plants or anything else that is necessary.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Silvia Pereira 9/09/2021 7:18 AMSome days of week my kids use to have lunch at school, where they used to use disposable cutlery and straws . Now everyone has their own kit of non-disposable cutlery and straws.-
Silvia Pereira 9/28/2021 6:48 AMHi Desiree, oh that' s great ! Here in Brazil we can find plastic straws in the supermarket still, but I think we are coming to that . Most of restaurants and bars replaced the plastic by other alternative´s materials. -
Desiree Lemke 9/28/2021 12:36 AMHi Silvia! That`s great! Meanwhile plastic straws can no longer be bought in supermarkets in Germany anymore.

Silvia Pereira 7/02/2021 10:41 AMsmall actions can bring great results when done by many. I felt even more encouraged seeing so many cool initiatives that are actually so simple. -
Silvia Pereira 7/01/2021 8:42 AMIt is winter in this part of globe now and getting hot water for shower using solar heating plates can take more time than usual . Every day we collect at least 3-4 buckets of water from shower until it starts to be warm . My kids help me to collect it and use in our in our garden in our vegetable garden and stuff. It's very rewarding to see children participate knowing that they will take it to life-
Desiree Lemke 7/01/2021 10:05 PMGreat Silvia!
