COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?

    Albert Petry 3/29/2022 1:59 PM
When driving, you are literally isolated from the outside world. This causes disconnection from the emotions, community, and relationships that make us human. This is why road rage exists only for people in cars, not people on foot or on bike.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Disconnect from Email
Notice how much time you were spending checking email away from work and make note of that. Now that you have stepped away from it and have not been checking, what changes are you noticing in your thoughts, use of time, stress and energy levels?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/29/2022 1:54 PM
I notice there are more defined start and stop times to my work. This makes free time more enjoyable
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/23/2022 7:16 PM
I noticed that I had a lot more time to use with more productive activities like reading and going on walks. It was not hard to choose other activities. A lot of the time when I have a free second I will instinctively default to using my phone. By being more deliberate with my decisions I can make recreational time more enjoyable
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/23/2022 7:14 PM
Eating more meat affects others and our planet because meat production emits significantly more carbon emissions than other food sources. By emitting excess carbon, the planet's global temperature is warming. This will have devastating effects of communities around the world.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/20/2022 7:41 AM
By walking, you are interacting with you community at a human scale. You can see and talk to people; however, in a car you are isolated and alone.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/13/2022 7:21 PM
You could exercise with others, or exercise outside, or even both! This allows you to meet multiple needs at the same time and makes exercising more enjoyable!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/13/2022 7:20 PM
If I find myself without a reusable bag I will just use my backpack. If I am totally unprepared and have nothing, I would just accept the disposable bags. Thankfully I’m well prepared and this never happens.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Work-Life Balance
How might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Albert Petry's avatar
    Albert Petry 3/13/2022 7:16 PM
Work-life balance saves time between switching activities and leads to more focused tasks. This leads to a more stable mental health.
