Alyssa's actions
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 15 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 15 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Alyssa Poncius 10/11/2021 2:13 PMBarriers of using a reusable water bottle are that plastic water bottles are more convenient. Honestly, sometimes it's easier to grab a plastic water bottle from the fridge when you're in a rush. As well it's nice to be able to throw away the water bottle right when you're finished with it. With a reusable water bottle you must bring it around with you everywhere, refill it often, and clean it.
