I will spend 5 minute(s) per day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and my natural surroundings.

I will sign up for a car-sharing service or organize car sharing with my neighbors or classmates to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Dania Ramirez 5/03/2022 10:46 PMMany people including myself, tend to stop and get coffee on our daily commute to work. Although coffee is necessary in the morning, waste is not. After this challenge, I realized that I could prevent contributing to the problem, and use a reusable mug from home. It is an easy step to implement, but makes a big difference to cut back waste. I feel much better knowing I was able to prevent some waste from ending up in a landfill.-
Yvette Renteria-Arreola 5/08/2022 12:31 AMHello Dania, it is nice to hear that you have been using a reusable mug to get your coffee. It is indeed easier to just get the coffee cup from the store themselves to not go through the hassle of carrying your own mug, but at the end it is much better for the environment and it is good to hear what you have been doing.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Dania Ramirez 4/15/2022 3:43 PMGratitude is simple. All we need is a set time we put aside in our day to reflect on all the great things in our life. All things big and small should be learned to be appreciated. I agree that it could lead to great things and happiness if everyone reflected on all the good in their lives.-
Robert Breazile 4/15/2022 10:46 PMThank you for givig us this important reminder! I always try to be thankful, but sometimes when I get busy I lose sight of the things that I am grateful for.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (school, work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Dania Ramirez 4/14/2022 10:48 PMEvery Sunday, I usually go to buy groceries. Instead of going alone, I realized since I live with others, I could make a trip with them which would not only make it easier for us, but would also help save unnecessary CO2 emissions.-
Dante Cesarman 4/15/2022 2:03 AMHey Dania, I realized this too when I was doing a challenge on meal planning and a lot can be saved by doing fewer trips and preparing for the week. If this was combined with sharing trips with a friend, neighbor, or co-worker, more pollution could be avoided as well as lowering food waste.
