Simplicity
Buy Used Clothes
I will spend 10 minutes learning about the perils of fast fashion and will buy my clothes at second-hand stores when I shop.
Waste
Watch the film Creatures of Convenience on CBC Gem
Check out the film Creatures of Convenience on CBC Gem for FREE! This is a local film about the the impact our culture of convenience has on the environment. If you liked the film, consider attending our Earth Day event on Thursday, April 22: "In Conversation: Creatures of Convenience," a Q&A session with the film's producer and filmmaker, moderated by KPU instructor Dr. Paul Richard! To complete this action, you only have to watch the film - but we'd love to see you at the event as well! :)

I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, neighbors or classmates.
Action Track: Building Resilience

Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will learn about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Waste
RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
I will spend 10 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Health
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
I will spend 15 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus to reduce pollution in the environment and in local communities.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Karen Salazar 3/10/2021 1:27 PMI am a first year KPU student just wanting to make changes so our earth is safe for future generations! I would love for KSA to provide more learning opportunities or resources to things we can make a difference in immediately or start a "earthly habits" type of blog each week and explain how each week's habit can help in the long run!-
Erin Pedersen 3/12/2021 8:45 AMHey Karen, thanks for the ideas! We have a newsletter you can check out, which isn't so much focused on personal change but might give you some ideas. Check it out at http://eepurl.com/diZbsv! You can also check the action off in your dashboard if you sign up! :)
