I saw several today. I think maybe people have spent a lot of time over the last year sorting and cleaning.

I love the warmth lately! It is so nice getting to drive with the windows down on my way home.

I got to go on a walk/run today because it is so nice out. ( One of my dogs has been trying to help me type this by laying her head on my keyboard unit l gave her attention)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Core Values
What are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?

    Diana Segerstrom's avatar
    Diana Segerstrom 4/26/2021 10:43 AM
My core values in simple terms are Peace, Fairness, Happiness, and Well Being. I went through a series of articles to better grasp different core values and suggested values until I weeded through and settled down to these four.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Diana Segerstrom's avatar
    Diana Segerstrom 4/26/2021 10:39 AM
I was able to gain insight into this question from a previous discussion board that was assigned in class. There are landfills in many neighboring cities, and some holding sights throughout Bloomington Normal. I would say that the neighboring cities are more affected because they have landfills rather than a holding/drop-off facility.

A lot of the landfills are located n poorer parts of town  too. Along with factories and other sources of hazards.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Diana Segerstrom's avatar
    Diana Segerstrom 4/26/2021 10:36 AM
Food sovereignty addresses the complex transition of modern global food systems and localized food systems. Food sovereignty addresses the need for sustainable food methods within different agriculture systems, demanding the right to put the food producers above market and corporation policies.

    • Janet Beach Davis's avatar

And that every society needs to hold on to the community knowledge of how to farm their own food. Once that is forgotten, they are reliant on the system for food, which can erode autonomy.

The more I am able to get out and take a short walk as a break, the more I think a small walk should be worked into each day's schedule.

    • Janet Beach Davis's avatar
Janet Beach Davis 4/25/2021 9:45 PM
During the worst of the pandemic, when we were all home 24/7 I would walk “to work” and then “walk home” just to divide up my day into work hours and home hours.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Improve a Bus Stop
In what ways can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    Diana Segerstrom's avatar
    Diana Segerstrom 4/25/2021 2:18 PM
I can advocate through many large outlets such as posting on bulletin boards or on social media. This way a large audience sees the information I want to get across.

What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

The reasoning behind my actions is simple: I want to leave the Earth better than I found it. It is a simple motto to live by and can be applied to other situations as well.
