Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

    Daniel Shea 3/21/2022 11:19 AM
I agree. We need to appreciate our earth more and not take things such as the sunset/sunrise for granted.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Use Reusable Bottles
What are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?

Water clenches thirst and helps plants grow. The world cannot exist as it is without the water cycle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Daniel Shea 's avatar
    Daniel Shea 3/21/2022 11:17 AM
Meet has a huge impact on our environment. It is eaten more in richer countries because it is much more expensive to produce than non-meet products. Its impacts include emissions from cattle farming, desertification, and pollution.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Daniel Shea 's avatar
    Daniel Shea 3/21/2022 11:11 AM
Food container, plastic utensils, cups. I can use reusable plates, cups, and utensils and think more conciously.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Practice Gratitude for Earth
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

    Daniel Shea 3/21/2022 11:05 AM
I agree. By practicing gratitude, one is more likely to think consciously about the earth. We can cultivate a sense of gratitude by investing in natural recourses and pointing out things that come from nature.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

    Daniel Shea 's avatar
    Daniel Shea 3/14/2022 8:01 PM
City water, not sure of the source. I could find out by researching on my county's website.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

Locally pollution impacts our water and globally it is impacted by overfishing, oil spills, and carbon emissions. Stop littering and choose to eat sustainable fish to help.
