Margaux's actions
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Nature
Join An Outdoor Project
I will join an outdoor restoration project in my community while observing best practices in my region for not spreading COVID-19.
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Simplicity
Track my Purchases
I will spend 15 minutes each day maintaining a record of all my purchases and learning about my spending habits.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Water
Use Reusable Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 15-minute walk outside each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Margaux Solari 4/19/2022 5:09 PMHawaii is a island where water is really important but it is also really native and it is important to keep the root where everything come from. -
Margaux Solari 4/19/2022 5:02 PMReally good almost there. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?
Margaux Solari 4/19/2022 3:47 PMDoing hike trails and connecting with the earth. For me it makes me relax and breath being able to be out there connecting with nature hearing the wind blowing, the sound of the birds or even the sound of the ocean brings me peace and a clear mind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Margaux Solari 4/19/2022 3:41 PMWe need to appreciate everyday. It is important to value every sunrise and every sunset. Seeing like everyone and each of them are different everyday makes them special and valuable to me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Margaux Solari 4/19/2022 3:39 PMIt doesn't surprise me we live in a society, where we consume too much for what we actually eat. This money could go to other important necesity in a family of four. But it could also go to other people or other important actions for the planet that need it. -
Margaux Solari 4/18/2022 7:31 PMAlmost t the end I learned a lot about myself and the actions I can do to make my life more healthy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Margaux Solari 4/14/2022 4:58 PMIn every daily activity we could include them and even if we don't do them all because we can't try a least doing one or two. We can try to reduce our electricity consummtion everyday by first turning the lights off when we leave a room. We can reuse our water bottles instead of buying new ones.
