  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

For this challenge, I aimed to catch every sunset. I did this by going on evening walks or making sure to be in my backyard at the right time. By doing this small thing in my day, I found a moment of calmness and connectedness. Berry's assertion is strong, but true. It's hard to not feel some sort of connection staring out at the rising or setting sun.

Practicing gratitude is a great way to focus on the positives in life and all the good, rather than the bad. In times like today, this is especially important. It's crucial to not lose sight of all the things we have to be thankful for.
