Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

Some foods that I like to preserve and enjoy for the rest of the year is cabbage and olives. I am planning to preserve it by canning and pickling. When I preserve them they change color. I will also preserve nuts and dried fruits like apples.

I love canning, mostly tomatoes and pickles. Someday maybe I’ll make my own sauerkraut or kimchi.

Action Track: Healing & Renewal Engage In Active Listening
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?

I was really paying attention to the person as they were talking. Whenever I actively I get more engaged and immersed in what the person is saying. When I actively listen to the people it helps me to know about their ideas and thoughts instead I used to jump with my own thoughts and ideas.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Monima Thapa 11/19/2020 8:40 AM
We can improve the health of water systems by vegetation management. Vegetation management involves cleaning up the plant-life along with waterways. It removes all the harmful plant that has a negative effect on the soil and plant life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

To reduce paper mail from this month I have started enrolling in e-statement. I get all my monthly bank statements by email instead of by mail. Every month in my household I used to get at least 5-10 mail, but now we will be getting everything on email. And even when I go to the store if possible I take e-receipt instead of printing them.

    Community Meet My Neighbors
In what ways can you create more real and meaningful interactions with friends — or strangers — each week?

I was a person who never used to make contact with any people. I have started making real and meaningful interactions with people. I have started talking to my neighbor when I see them and ask them about here day. I even talk to cashiers when I go to the supermarket to be more socially connected. When I go for a walk in the park I see many people around. I try to smile at them and greet them good morning or evening.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Use Reusable Bottles
What are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?

Drinking plenty of water will hydrate our bodies. People who drink more water have younger looks. It also increases our brainpower and provides us energy. As we know dehydration leads us to cramping, so drinking water prevents us from cramps and sprains.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

If there is a situation of needing a bag but if I don't have reusable bags I will carry things in my hand. If I purchase a bulk item then in that case I will use a cart to carry my items to the car.
I usually go COSTO for my groceries, they don't provide any disposable bags. I think I am used to not using disposable bags. When I go to Walmart or Kroger I used to sometimes use plastic sometimes. From now onwards I will completely stop using plastic bags. Disposable bags are not something I need but want to make my work easier.
