Vielka Tovar 7/07/2019 8:36 PMFourth of July was great! We had a BBQ with some family friends I ended up grilling tofu for me and my brother. Yeah, it was weird and it kept falling so I grilled it in smaller pieces and that worked.-

Vielka Tovar 6/30/2019 10:00 PMI went camping this weekend and it was really easy to avoid refined sugar because we didn't bring any sugary drinks. We drank water all weekend with our meals and it was weird eating tofu but my brother joined me so that was cool. -
Vielka Tovar 6/23/2019 10:16 PMAlright this is getting harder I went out to visit friends today and of course! they didn't have anything that I could eat. Well they did but I didn't just want to eat corn and tortillas so I ended up drinking a smoothie from Frazier Farms for lunch. I tried making tofu scrambled eggs in the morning..they looked weird but tasted okay. Since I have been not eating out it is easier to stay away from sugary drinks so that's a plus. -
Vielka Tovar 6/22/2019 11:49 PMI knew this round of challenges was going to be hard and let me tell you it is! I had a smoothie for breakfast then I had tofu with some rice and vegetables. Let me tell you orange tofu is NOT the same as orange chicken but I kept telling my self that. I don't know how I feel about tofu yet but I spent a few hours last night researching types of tofu and how to cook each one.-
Professor Morrell 6/23/2019 8:13 PMTofu can vary greatly! Fried and baked are my favorites and now I prefer it when I order Asian :) Steamed though... not my fav at all! :) I hope you can figure out a great recipe! Kudos for trying - keep it up!

Vielka Tovar 6/18/2019 5:37 PMI am starting to see changes in my family due to the little information I provided them with. I know that these little steps will not reduce global warming in its entirety but helping in what ever small amount I think is better than anything.-
Professor Morrell 6/18/2019 6:22 PMEvery pound of reduced CO2 helps!

Vielka Tovar 6/11/2019 11:39 PMI took my mom to buy kombucha today from Living Tea Kombucha in Oceanside. We tried all their flavors and once we settled on the flavors we wanted we were asked in what container we would like our kombucha in. The first option was to use a recyclable plastic cup with a paper straw, the second option was to purchase a glass container for a dollar more, and the third option was to bring you own cup. Well since it was a last minute trip I didn't have a container so I opted for the glass container. It was two dollars more for our drinks but I was glad with my choice because that means that two less cups are being used. As a perk of purchasing a glass container you get a discount if you come back and get a refill in that same bottle which is pretty cool. -
Vielka Tovar 6/10/2019 6:36 PMI am ready for new challenges I think so far I have been doing very good. The weather is warming up so it has been nice walking outside which is one of my challenges this round. -
Vielka Tovar 6/07/2019 11:42 PMI have narrowed down the type of reusable straw I want to buy I think this will help a lot in reducing the amount of straws I use. These challenges have been a topic of conversation for a lot of my conversations lately. I think that is pretty cool because in a small way it is raising awareness of our current climate change. -
Vielka Tovar 6/05/2019 4:39 PMMy challenge is going very well I am able to remind myself to check in on my challenges. I have been able to keep up with my previous challenges as well and I am very proud of myself. It is hard to start something new and integrated into my daily routine but I am trying and that is what counts. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Vielka Tovar 6/05/2019 4:33 PMOur brain is a very powerful thing and positive thinking can change your mood which then transfers to your actions. When you are happy or in a good mood you are not thinking about negative things. Reminding myself to be thankful and grateful motivates me to volunteer and help those around me. When you forget about certain commodities it is easy to take them for granted. A attitude of gratitude makes you want to do good for yourself and others.
