Jacklynn's actions
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Waste
Pick Up Litter From an Outdoor Community Space
I will spend (__) minutes a day, walking around outdoor community spaces (parks, lakes, ponds, trails, downtown areas, parking lots) and collect the garbage that I see
Simplicity
Go For A Daily Walk Outside
I will take a walk outside for 30 minutes each day.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Water
Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
I will prevent water runoff and increase absorbency by mulching the base of plants and trees at my home or work.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water a day or 270 (1,020 L) gallons of water a month per faucet.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Nature
Join An Outdoor Project
I will join an outdoor restoration project in my community while observing best practices in my region for not spreading COVID-19.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Jacklynn Uhlig 4/10/2022 8:38 PMtoday i spent like a few extra hours walking outside. I helped the ecology action center plant trees at Heartland, which i heard about from prof. Janet. it was a nice way to spend my Sunday afternoon instead of staying inside. I think my mom and I will volunteer to do it again-
Janet Beach Davis 4/11/2022 10:03 AMIt was a wonderful day! a tad windy, but still an amazing day! Thanks for coming out. I was off planting trees way out at the edge.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Jacklynn Uhlig 4/06/2022 7:51 PMso i have just been carrying a folded canvas bag in my purse so wherever i go, i can use it and not forget it. if i have my purse, i have my wallet to buy things, then i have a bag for them, but today the workers were putting things in a bag for me before i had the chance to tell them i dont need one. usually if i don't have a bag, ill just carry a small number of items that i bought with my hands
