Manny's actions
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Simplicity
Go For A Daily Walk Outside
I will take a walk outside for 20 minutes each day.
Simplicity
Limit Social Media
I will limit my social media use to once each day reducing my daily use by 30 minute(s)
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 15 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?
Manny Velarde 5/21/2021 9:12 AMI feel my time without social media has greatly affected my mood. I am not using social media during my time of boredom, I am appreciating that moment in time rather than just numbing my mind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Manny Velarde 5/21/2021 9:09 AMI feel that I have more energy and I am more efficient after a nice brisk walk. I feel like it gets the real creative juices flowing. -
Manny Velarde 5/20/2021 10:33 AMLimited my showers to only 5 minutes. I also have the hot water off, so no more coffee in the morning just a cold wake up. -
Manny Velarde 5/19/2021 10:11 PMToday I took my daughter on a walk for around an hour and I loved every minute of it and so did she. We appreciated the world around us and even got to play around on the grass for a bit before she was tired out. The sun is amazing I would recommend 10/10
