If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Traveling this last week has been difficult. I never realized how much plastic is in an airport and what we purchase. I'm glad that I remembered my reusable water bottle and coffee cup.

All the one use items are crazy right?! I cant wait for sustainability to hit the airline industry! High five for bringing your water bottles! I usually bring my own tea too and get hot water and its the best thing to sip on a plane!

I notice that I spend a lot of extra money on coffee on days that I work. I think buying a small coffee pot to take to work might be a good investment for not only me but everyone at the store.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I think you need to be creative with the things you've already purchased in order to avoid having to spend money on buying new stuff.

We are almost out of toothpaste and laundry detergent so I found the companies Bite and Earth Breeze that provide sustainable alternatives for these items. I order these things and I am looking forward to them being delivered!

I never knew how much CO2 could have been saved by simply turning my computer off all the way when I was done with it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

SDGE has sent out letters suggesting for us to switch most of our energy use to earlier in the day. Remembering to turn out lights and unplug things like lamps and phone chargers from the wall is important to reduce your daily amount of energy use.

Something I already do is unplugging things like small kitchen appliances and lamps when I am no using them. Also, making sure to keep the lights off if it is not necessary for them to be on.

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I like to go on walks with my neighbors who have pets. That way I get to enjoy the company of my neighbors as well as see a dog daily!
