As a longtime employee of my father's bagel shop, Belmar Bagels, I have decided to make the business as environmentally friendly as can be. This will include using plant based to go containers, paper straws, reusable/biodegradable bags, and reusable coffee mugs in order to limit the amount of single use plastics in our shop. Similarly, I'll be switching from paper towels to rags that are used at the bagel making stations to clean. Doing so, will limit the amount of paper thrown away by using reusable rags instead. Likewise, we have also done away with using paper plates to serve our customers and have opted to use re-usable baskets instead. this will help reduce our waste even more. Furthermore, i will begin exploring ways that we can use environmentally friendly cleaning products such as soaps and bleaches, which is something we should've been doing all along. Lastly, I will try to continue to use as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. We use local farm-market tomatoes all summer but it is more difficult in the winter. thus, I'll look into better ways to continue doing so.
