Lauren's actions
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home or Dorm Room
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home or dorm room.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Help Others
I will offer to help 1 person(s) who are in need each day.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 0.11lbs (0.05kg) a day or 3.3lbs (1.6kg) a month by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Send a Sister a kind note
Send a sister a kind note to make them AND you feel good. Reach out to someone you haven't talked to, someone new, someone you're close to a kind message!
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 15 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Water
Use Reusable Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Lauren Widlowski 4/13/2021 11:41 AMTaking the time to notice the good things in my life and being thankful for those things will allow me to work towards a world where everyone has something in their life to be thankful for.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Lauren Widlowski 3/30/2021 5:46 PMHaving less paper mail makes me feel a lot less stressed and overwhelmed. With too many stacks of papers on my desk or in my room, I feel overwhelmed and unorganized. The next step I will take to reduce my waste is make my loan statements available fully online, rather than by mail! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Brush My Teeth Without Running WaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Lauren Widlowski 3/19/2021 2:14 PMI don't know what the main source of water is in my region, but I would most likely be able to find out with a quick google search. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Lauren Widlowski 3/19/2021 2:13 PMThis is something I could try to implement where I work! Suggesting to staff above me that double-sided printing is better for the environment would be a great way to get more people to use double-sided printing.-
Toria Sharrow 3/25/2021 8:23 AMI love this idea!! Double-sided printing on campus is such an easy switch I’ll be making too

Lauren Widlowski 3/16/2021 11:10 AMThe campus ecochallenge has shown me so many different ways that I can become more environmentally friendly! It's also shown me ways that I can be more mindful of my own health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Lauren Widlowski 3/16/2021 11:09 AMI would like to try to go to bed earlier each night, preferably 10:30 PM or earlier. What works for me is getting my homework done earlier in the day, so I'm not up late at night studying! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Send a Sister a kind noteHow did this make you feel?
Lauren Widlowski 3/16/2021 9:20 AMIt made me feel happy to do this. I send a note to a sister I haven't seen in awhile, and I miss her a lot. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Use Reusable BottlesWhat are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?
Lauren Widlowski 3/16/2021 9:15 AMWater provides me with a way to keep my body healthy by staying hydrated each day. It provides me with a way to clean my body, as well as the clothes I wear. It allows me to cook food for myself. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Lauren Widlowski 3/15/2021 7:49 PMI can exercise with friends! Since the weather is getting nicer, I can ask friends to go on walks or hikes with me outside. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Lauren Widlowski 3/15/2021 7:48 PMReally thinking about the purchases I make and deciding if it's something I need or something I want. There's no need for me to spend money unnecessarily, especially as a college student.
