Ella Yost 10/23/2020 7:10 PMToday is the first day that I didn't complete all of my challenges in a day. I was pretty upset about it, because it isn't really a hard task to complete. I just got preoccupied and wasn't really having the greatest day, so I didn't get around to it. I'm still glad that I've done it this far, and one missed day shouldn't discourage me. I can still keep doing the challenge and make any little impact I can. -
Ella Yost 10/18/2020 7:41 PMI've been pretty happy with how my de-clutter challenge has been going lately. There are projects that I've been wanting to start like going through clothes, cleaning, reorganizing, etc., that I never started just because it seemed like too big of a deal. This challenge has helped me stay on it by even just doing one little part each day. Any little progress helps. Just like any little thing you can do to help the environment is worth it. -
Ella Yost 10/14/2020 5:18 PMThe "turn it off" energy challenge has been quite easy for me, so I decided to try and make the challenge harder for me. At night, I normally have a lamp and some string lights on in my bedroom. Tonight I'm only using candles in my room for a little less harsh light and to eliminate the energy use completely. I might continue to do this, since I don't really need it to be that bright at night and it helps save so much electricity. -
Ella Yost 10/12/2020 8:31 PMMy challenges have still been going pretty good. It's getting easier to complete them now. For the eat mindfully challenge, I've begun just leaving my phone in my bedroom or in another room so that I'm not even tempted to look at it while I'm eating. I'm also really liking the results of the de-clutter challenge. Each day I've taken a different region of my bedroom to clean, reorganize or de-clutter. The turn it off challenge to save energy has been pretty easy for me, but I've been trying to get my family members to do it too, since they have a habit of leaving things on when they aren't using them. -
Ella Yost 10/07/2020 7:04 PMThe challenge I'm having the hardest time completing is the de-clutter challenge. It always seems like I'm making more clutter rather than reducing the clutter. Yesterday and today I worked on de-cluttering, cleaning, and reorganizing a shelf in my bedroom. I had books, art supplies, and lots of other things sprawled out all across my bedroom floor. Eventually I managed to reorganize the shelf to my liking. I still have a small pile of things on my floor that don't belong on the shelf anymore, but that's just something for me to de-clutter tomorrow. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Ella Yost 10/05/2020 4:42 PMI can weigh the pros and cons before buying something. Do I really need this? Do I already have something like this? Should I spend my money on this? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Ella Yost 10/05/2020 1:38 PMI think most of the electricity in Wisconsin is coal powered. Not only do the gas emissions harm the environment, but also the animals and humans. In addition to released gases, there are other negative things like the building of factories, release of waste, and use of resources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Ella Yost 10/05/2020 1:31 PMWhen practicing mindfulness while eating, I found that time peaceful and reflective. I felt much more present and in-the-moment too. Similar to the Natural Setting Reflection, eating without distractions just gives another good meditation-type activity and reduces your technology use.
