Ate breakfast with a friend, and made sure not to waste any food. Feeling good and happy.

The refined sugar is actually harder than I thought it would be just because I'm surrounded by it everywhere I go and I'm just like >:/ when I want to eat something that looks good but realize it has refined sugar. I feel like if the industry didn't make us think we needed it or that it was SOOO good it wouldn't affect me as much. But for now it's a struggle, but I'm trying and I will get better.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Create Your Own Action Forage for My Food
People are motivated to forage for many different reasons: as a source for food, a means of income, to connect with nature, to participate in cultural tradition, transmitting specific ecological knowledge, or as a means of stewarding local and native plant populations are just a few examples. What is your chief motivation for foraging?

    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez's avatar
    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez 11/18/2019 6:03 PM
my chief motivation for foraging is that it does have to do a lot with my culture since my grandma and aunts would make food from food that was foraged and so my mom always tries to do the same. It shows the value of the food we eat and make. & it is apart of the culture so thats my chief motivation for foraging.

This challenge has opened my eyes into seeing the blessings I've had in front of me all this time. We should all be thankful for what we have and be considerate for the future generations to the same if not better.

Theres this quote by Buddha that I really like, it says, "What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create." I choose to like the way I want.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Choose a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez's avatar
    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez 11/17/2019 6:15 PM
Something I can do to reduce the number of flight per year is travel less by plane and travel when necessary by a more eco friendly method, so by electric trains or a bus where instead of going individually in a car I can travel with a whole bunch of people and the C02 is reduced.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?

    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez's avatar
    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez 11/17/2019 6:11 PM
Spending more time outdoors might enhance ones brain power simply by breathing fresh air and taking in what mother earth has to offer us. It can make one aware of the true beauties in life and make them more grateful.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Reduce refined sugar
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez's avatar
    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez 11/17/2019 6:08 PM
I think I was just because of what I was used to growing up, but now I don't really drink any sugar drinks, mostly water but i sometimes struggle with sweets like chocolate or ice-cream. Those are my weaknesses. But I am trying my best!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Go get a check up
How do you practice self care?

    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez's avatar
    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez 11/17/2019 6:06 PM
i practice self care by working out and listening to music. basically doing anything that makes me take a step back from life and feel nice.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez's avatar
    Eresay Alcantar-Velasquez 11/17/2019 6:04 PM
;This makes me feel good because I already do most of my mail electronically and it is much faster and efficient than paper mail that will just end up in the trash anyways. The next step i will take to reduce my waste is to try to use the least amount of plastic i can.
