My campuses ecochallenge is going very well, I think that my team and I are all doing our part, racking up points and working together on the final presentation at the end of the ecochallenge. This ecochallenge activity was a very fun experience and I enjoyed doing this with my teamates.

How do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?

    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer's avatar
    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer 11/26/2021 11:27 PM
Since we live in Hawaii,  I think climate change would damage a lot of the oceans coral reefs and marine ecosystems due to the rising temperatures in the ocean.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Choose a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer 11/26/2021 11:25 PM
To reduce the number of trips I take per year, I could easily find ways of transportation to get to the places that i want or need to go . I could also limit the times that I travel and also save money.

To what extent do environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer's avatar
    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer 11/19/2021 11:59 PM
A number of certain types of environmental issues can hold back human health and wellness. A lot of these issues include chemical and air pollution, climate change, and a lot others.  Most people think that many of these things that we are exposed to in the environment are related to health problems like cancer and asthma.  A potential environmental impact on health can lead to a cascade of biological events in the body that alters the way it works but these changes can be bad or good, and are highly individual depending on genes and circumstances.

    Community Engage In Active Listening
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?

    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer's avatar
    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer 11/18/2021 1:20 PM
A lot of people think that active listening is just hearing someone speak, When you are actively listening, you are fully concentrating on what is being said by the speaker. You listen with all of the senses and give your full attention to the person. I think actively listening was good for me because it helped let the speaker know that I gave them my full attention. The speaker got to express what they wanted to say and I also got information on the topic

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

Knowing the difference that I am making to help save the environment really makes me happy, using a reusable cup helps lower the waste-management environmental impacts.   the reusable cups scored well in the climate change arena, they were associated with fewer greenhouse gas emissions than their single-use counterparts.

Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer's avatar
    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer 11/02/2021 4:25 PM
Food sovereignty promotes transparent trade that guarantees just incomes to all peoples as well as the rights of consumers to control their food and nutrition. It ensures that the rights to use and manage lands, territories, waters, seeds, livestock and biodiversity are in the hands of those of us who produce food.

According to Wikipedia, Hawaii relies on heavily on petroleum and coal for power. Hawaii has the highest electricity prices in the united states. It can have environmental affects that include, emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, especially when there is fuel being burned. Generation of solid waste, which may include hazardous waste. Land use for fuel production, power generation, and transmission and distribution lines.

How do you practice self care?

    Caleb Noah Badayos-Buetzer 10/31/2021 12:43 AM
Some ways that I practice self care is by living healthy, some examples are eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep (at least 8 hours), exercising regularly, and avoiding drugs and alcohol. Some other ways of practicing self care are having good hygiene, finding ways to relax, and trying to do things that you enjoy everyday.
