  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

Walks with friends, which I usually do and enjoy doing. The zoo is a good resource for that. You are outside appreciating nature and animals, you are exercising, and can be with friends.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Food Lifestyle
Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?

Taking care of yourself and what goes in your body leaves you less likely to have serious health conditions. Not completely unlikely, but a more healthy lifestyle to promote healthy living.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing & Renewal Practice Gratitude for Earth
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

Yes, because you understand better what you have and what others may not. It helps you better appreciate and want to help others as you can. You feel the reward in helping others and being able to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

Accessibility, including both quantity availability and funds to purchases them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

Too often I forget them and have to use disposable bags. Or if I can, I try to just carry out. A lot of times i end up just buying new reusables so that I don't have to use disposables. I keep the reusable bags in my car and need to get better and remembering to bring them in.

I am pretty excited about being introduced to this site and I plan to continue using it after this course. This course has truly opened my mind up to so much and I have already begun to try and make some changes. I like this site because it can help keep me accountable but also give me ideas of what to do. Not only does it give ideas of improvements outside of myself, but also self care too.
I think my first major improvements need to come in reference to my waste. I started thinking of ways and acting on them, to improve this. I have a 3 year old daughter and snacks on the go are needed. I have been trying to buy more bulk and less singly packaged stuff. I have been trying to be more mindful of my shopping and unnecessary waste from that. I really need to work on my use of reusable bags. Between me and my husband, we are really bad with that.
