I would like to be able to sleep for more than five hours. I have found that not having any screen time after 11 PM has helped me fall asleep quicker.

Hi Martha, I used to sleep talk/ walk A LOT and I started reading on it and it said that it was because I was using my phone past 11 and not letting my brain shut down properly.. the more you know huh!

Hi Martha, I have the same problem with my sleep pattern. I barely sleep and when I do its about 4-5 hours. I think more rest is needed for a better productive day. Keep up the good work !
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Reduce refined sugar
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

I don't think I was addicted but I never realized how much sugar I was actually intaking until I began to track it. I feel like now I have more energy and do not feel like I am going through a crash in the middle of the day.

What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

Another easy way in order to save energy is to unplug things that are not currently being used. I have a bad habit of keeping my computer and phone charger connected to Multi-plug extension cord. What I began doing is shutting off the extension cord and unplugging it when it was not being used.

Hi Martha, I also have a really bad habit unplugging cords because I am lazy and forget to. My apple watch charger and phone charger are always plugged into my wall. I need to get in the habit of unplugging them after I am done using them!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
A recent Keen Independent Research Foundation study found that Minority Businesses Enterprises (MBEs) are more likely to have difficulties in receiving loans or city contracts. In what ways can you work to address systemic racism like that demonstrated in this study?

A way that I can work to address this issue is to openly support these businesses and promote their products. Bring them more traction so that the city and those offering loans know that people frequent these spots and they will be able to receive the funding they deserve. That being said there are some amazing black owned restaurants in the IE. Island Breeze Jamaican cuisine is located in Colton and they have amazing food. Here is a list of black owned restaurants in the Inland Empire.
