Water

Say No to Plastic Straws

An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

It has been slightly harder to replace screen time with other activities since the weather is getting colder. I can't do as many things outside, so all I want to do is sit on the couch and watch Tik Tok. I have been trying to read, work out, and clean a lot more than I was before.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

When I don't have a reusable bag with me, I try to carry everything in my hands, or use a paper bag if possible to then recycle or reuse later. There have been times when I have to use a plastic disposable bag, and I often feel a little guilty. In order to avoid these situations, I should keep a few reusable bags in my car or in my backpack. Or I could keep a basket in my car, and then use a cart to get my groceries out to my car instead of bags, and then use the basket to carry everything inside my house.
